The Role
As a Backend Engineer, you build and enhance core services of our Azure-based data lakehouse platform. You will design APIs, data services, and integrations that are scalable, secure, and reliable, working closely with senior engineers, product, and customer teams. This is a hands-on role for an engineer who wants to grow their impact on a fast-moving platform.
Key Responsibilities
Design, build, and maintain backend services and APIs for the data platform.
Develop and optimize data integrations that bring firm data into the lakehouse.
Write clean, well-tested, secure code aligned with legal-industry compliance requirements.
Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of platform components.
Contribute to CI/CD pipelines and automated testing.
Collaborate across engineering, product, and customer teams on technical alignment.
What Success Looks Like: 30-60-90 Days
First 30 Days
Ramp on the platform architecture, codebase, and development workflow.
Ship your first well-scoped backend changes with support from the team.
By 60 Days
Own delivery of a backend feature or integration end to end.
Contribute to code reviews and improve test coverage in your area.
By 90 Days
Deliver meaningful backend features independently with strong quality.
Propose and drive at least one improvement to performance, reliability, or developer workflow.
Required Qualifications
3-5 years of backend software engineering experience.
Proficiency in one or more of Go, .NET, or Node.js.
Experience building and consuming REST or similar APIs.
Solid SQL and data modeling fundamentals.
Familiarity with a major cloud platform (Azure preferred), Docker, and CI/CD.
Experience writing secure, well-tested, maintainable code.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with data lakehouse or analytics platforms (Databricks, Snowflake, or Microsoft Fabric).
Kubernetes and infrastructure-as-code exposure (Pulumi or Terraform).
Legal technology or enterprise SaaS background.
Experience with event-driven or streaming architecture.
Technology Stack
